Lift Emotion & Curvelle

Curvelle 34m 'SuperMaran'
launched in Turkey
The world’s largest CARBON HYBRID COMPOSITE yacht is starting a new revolution in compact superyachts.

Curvelle 'quaranta' sea trials
Monday morning on February 25th, after a brief night-time transfer from the Curvelle - Logos building hall, the revolutionary Curvelle 'quaranta' power catamaran settled into the water after the customary champagne launch. The much anticipated arrival into the world of luxury yachting did not disappoint all that witnessed the event. Not surprisingly her creator Luuk V. van Zanten proclaimed her ''as elegant as I had imagined''.
Next up is  are the sea trials and engineering testing, which will demonstrate the superior performance and fuel economy afforded the catamaran hull form, given her volume and caterpillar engine package.  But exceptional performance was part of the design brief along with a long list of innovative and ground breaking features.
The catamaran configuration also gives exception stability, while the carbon fiber construction method delivers fuel efficient cruising and transatlantic range. Twin hulls allow a remarkable multipurpose raising stern platform that can accommodate a submarine, a 4x4 or a limousine tender, and doubles as a beach club, which you might expect to find on a 45m vessel. This, along with other features, also assists in the role of a mobility-friendly yacht. Another novel feature is the stateroom accommodation on the main deck with cruise-liner sized windows and cabins that can be configured in 20 different layouts by the crew, to suit the guest’s needs.
Go to the Curvelle website (Link at the end of this release) and have a 360 degree tour and see all the innovations incorporated in this ground-breaking yacht.

Lift Emotion solution for the
Cuvelle 'quaranta'
Putting a three deck guest elevator on a 34m yacht was quite a challenge for Curvelle but the result is an attractive and unique solution, probably the first elevator for a yacht of this size.
Superyacht developer, Curvelle has teamed up with the leading Dutch lift supplier, Lift Emotion, to create an elevator installation for the company's superyacht power catamaran 'quaranta'. The first 'quaranta' was launched with a fixed spiral staircase. The forward thinking design team at Curvelle has allowed space for a three deck guest lift or a bespoke arrangement for a mobility scooter, for future customers.

Curvelle founder Luuk V. van Zanten explains some background to this innovative approach. ''Our original research into our design criteria of the Curvelle range of power catamarans offered up some very interesting data and along with other factors the need for wheelchair access became part of our fundamental design platform. We found that many superyacht owners had older parents that were excluded from cruising itineraries because of mobility issues. This factor was designed-in from the start with decks, passages and cabins having the optimum space for wheelchair access. Even without the optional lift we have a 'stair climber' device that can be used to easily get wheelchairs up the central spiral staircase''.

Lift Emotion's Mike Brandt takes up the story. ''Curvelle naturally teamed up with our business as one of the leading innovators in custom yacht lifts. We work within the safety and classification regulations to supply lift solutions for superyachts of all sizes as specified by owners, designers, naval architects and shipyards. Designing a glazed lift system for Curvelle was no challenge for us as the spiral staircase fitted in the standard yacht can be replaced by our lift. We have created a very attractive and unique solution''.

The design is very elegant connecting the accommodation deck, middle deck and the sun deck. The sun deck lift position is cleverly incorporated at the front of the fixed bimini.
