Inside information

Though there are similarities between land elevators and marine elevators, there are a few essential differences it’s good to be aware of.

The key difference between the two is that a yacht is always moving; whether moored in a port, at anchor or sailing. While the roll and pitch are serious matters to take into consideration, the torsion of the structure itself is also a factor which comes into play. Therefore it’s essential to create a guidance that will always go straight up without any torsion for smooth travel. When designing elevators onboard superyachts, we ensure the hoistway is invisibly supported, and at the same time, is strong enough to carry the installation.

Vessels always have limited space and therefor the elevator needs to be built to precise specifications to suit the limits of the vessel. .
